History of the Airsoft Gun:
Airsoft was invented in 1980 by Japan after they baned all guns.  Since there was still a national interest in owning a gun Japanese manufactueres started developing airsoft weapons. The early weapons fired a variety of calibers of plastic and rubber BB’s, but gradually became standarized to fire 6 or 8mm.  The early prototypes were also spring powered which later got replaced with gas and batterey powered units for greater mussle velosity.  The sport migrated to the U.S. around the the mid 90′s and has become as popular as paintball.  Airsoft has also been used for training police and military personal.  The quest for realistic guns has gotten companies like Systema to produce 1:1 scale replicas of weapons.  This gives the airsoft gammer the ultimate military feel for his mock war game play.
